Greetings In The Name Of Our Lord

What a joy it is to serve the Lord Jesus Christ.  We just had our 60th birthday, and as we look back at our life we rejoice that our Lord would use a sinner (saved by grace) in His work.  We have been trying to serve the Lord now for over 35 years, and the only thing we would change is to be a better servant.

This year has been a busy one.  We have done more meetings, seen some souls come to know Jesus, and had some of God’s people get the encouragement they most certainly need.  Our health is doing well although we still have to pace our self and listen to what our body is trying to tell us.  It has been almost three years now since our first problems with our heart, and we Praise The Lord for your prayers and continue support for us.  Thank you so much for your love shown to the Adams family.

Please continue to pray for our Pastors and Churches who are doing the Lord’s work.  Please pray for New Testament Baptist and Faith Baptist church that are without a Pastor and are seeking the Lord’s will in calling one.  God has used us to fill in some and to give some direction in this matter.  Also pray for all God’s children in the day we live, that they will be found faithful to the end.

My son Cary who is serving in the Army and is going to Africa next year sent me this for my 60th birthday.  I just wanted to share it with you and ask you to pray for him and his family.   It’s times like this that shows serving the Lord pays.  “God Bless”

Thinking of dad on his 60th B-day

As I sit and think about my father on his 60th B-day, I can't keep from thinking about his life. Who he was, who he has been and who he is. So I let my mind drift back to when I was a young boy trying to discover the mystery of life in this world. I don't remember much of my childhood but this is what I remember.
I don't remember being hungry or cold or not having a place to call home. I do remember my dad, the best he could, providing for his family, doing what he believed was God's will for his life and somewhere in between trying to find some time to spend with his family.
I remember being embarrassed of the car he would pick us up from school in. Now I realize how hard it must have been for him to humbly drive it to work everyday so we wouldn't do without.
I remember going fishing, changing the oil and learning to drive a 5-speed. I remember he'd try to instruct us on finances, building credit and smart investments.
I remember his reaction wasn't as bad as I thought it would be when I side-swiped his newly painted Buick against a telephone pole in town square.
I remember his calm, compassionate response when I told him my new girlfriend (now wife) was pregnant. Never judging just supportive.
Through all of life's experiences I mostly just remember the man, Jerry Wayne Adams, my dad. Through financial hardships and blessings, in different places, around different people, with all the changes this world has seen, he has been the same. Although his child raising methods can be debated until the end of time, I believe his motives to have always been pure. So as you think about the past 60 years, know that you have a son who thanks you for all you've done and for the influence you have had and continue to have on my life and the lives of my family. I wish I could be there with you and I hope you have a great day. Happy Birthday, Love, Cary.
